Since the crafty revolution has gripped me, I’ve been increasingly keen to make my own Christmas gifts, not only is this a great way to save money, it really does show that you have thought about and considered the gift, anyone can do it, you don’t have to be an expert in anything!
Here are a few recipes and goodies to help try to get you thinking “handmade”
First up are some tags and labels to decorate the things you make, this year I’ll be going for brown paper tags (decorated with a rubber stamp and gold pen) but why not use these cool alternatives:
A great treat from the BBC is this Stolen recipe. These will look perfect wrapped in muslin, or cellophane (I get mine, £1 a meter from my local florist) with some Xmas ribbon, or the thread I made here for my Felt Reindeer
Shortbread fingers with white chocolate: perfect little gift to bag up and give to those with a sweet tooth, I bet these taste great with a cup of Tea
Peppermint Body Scrub- for all those beauty lovers, plus its all natural and lots better for you (the next recipe contains coconut oil which I can’t rave about enough, It had so many uses, my favourite is as an over night hair conditioner and for my rough skin in winter)
Red velvet cupcakes in a jar, ready for the receiver to bake, I’m not sure about you but this image alone is making my drool, “note to all readers, I’d love this for Christmas, pretty please”
Your friends arent into baking? how about making them this little sewing kit, with all the basics to get them started on a small project, plus it looks fab! You can find out the details here. But like most of the things here this really is something you can make your own! You could include some felt shapes and instructions for a small decoration..maybe a few extras special vintage buttons of fabric bits too See this blog for how to make the pin cushion on top
There really are so many things you can make, top of my list are home-made Granola jars for Secret Santa, and maybe a sugar scrub as a treat to myself.. because I’m worth it..
Are you making any gifts this year?
